The spirit of innovation has always been with the station. KOLD-TV was the first television station in Tucson. KOLD-TV began broadcasting on January 31, 1953, as KOPO-TV. Today, the station is the region's CBS affiliate and is part of Raycom Media, Inc.

On February 1, 2012, Raycom Media, Inc., which owns KOLD and the Belo Corporation, which owns KMSB and KTTU, entered into a Shared Service Agreement, under which KOLD provides news, marketing and engineering services to KMSB/KTTU.
