In releasing its 2012 Television Newsroom Diversity in Management survey, the National Association of Black Journalists recognized Raycom Media as having the highest diversity index of all broadcast groups surveyed, with thirty-one (17%) of its 179 television newsroom managers being people of color. Twenty of the company's 32 stations have at least one person of color in station or news management.
In 2012, Raycom partnered with NABJ to put additional focus on the company's efforts to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve across all departments particularly in our newsrooms. According to NABJ's Bob Butler, "in the 5 years we've been doing this report, this is the first time a television group has been so open and cooperative. I hope other companies follow Raycom's example."
