WTNZ - Knoxville, Tennessee
Fox 43 signed on as an independent station in 1982, showing syndicated
programs and movies. At the time we became a Fox affiliate, our call
letters were WKCH and "Catch Fox 43" was born. As the 1980's came to a
close, WKCH became WTNZ-Fox 43 and the station became known for its
"Purple Dot" logo.
After being acquired from Ellis Communications by Raycom Media, Fox 43
decided to launch the only 10 o'clock newscast in the market. In August
1998, Fox 43's 10 o'clock News hit the air, delivering local news,
sports, and weather an hour earlier.
Today the 10 o'clock news is still going strong. Our market presence is
growing steadily, our anchor team is enjoyable to watch, and we can now
boast that we are the second most watched late news in the market. Fox
43 looks forward to the future of our station and our newscast. Fox43
the place to be.
