Fox Wilmington is the Cape Fear region's fastest growing television station. The station signed on in 1984 in Wilmington as WJKA, a CBS affiliate. In 1994, WJKA became a FOX affiliate and is recognized as one of the dominant small-market FOX affiliates in the nation. In 2003, WSFX was acquired by Southeastern Media Holdings, Inc. in a shared-services agreement with Raycom Media. The station shares facilities and operations with sister station and Raycom NBC affiliate WECT.
