New Orleans, LA Affiliate: FOX DMA: 51

WVUE, FOX 8 is Louisiana’s Home Team. For generations, WVUE has chronicled life in New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana. On November 1st, 1953 the station signed on as WJMR with a UHF signal. Channel 61: Both a CBS and an ABC affiliate. Times were much simpler then. In January 1959, the station changed to VHF and changed its call letters to WVUE. Then in 1970, WVUE switched its designated channel from 12 to 8. The station is consistently one of the highest rated FOX affiliates in the country.

Today the station is located adjacent to the area of New Orleans known as “Gert Town” where the FOX 8 News Department generates forty-five and a half hours of news on a weekly basis. The dedicated journalists of FOX 8 have been honored with numerous awards, including five national Edward R. Murrow awards, among those, the prestigious award for Overall Station Excellence, FOX 8 is also a two time recipient of the National Columbia University-Albert I. duPont Award.

FOX 8 lives up to its name as Louisiana’s home team by taking part in and supporting numerous community events. The list of organizations that partner with FOX 8 is lengthy, but includes the American Heart Association, the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, The American Cancer Society’s Hope Gala, Dress for Success, Celebrity Waiters, The Canal Street Home For the Holidays, Celebration in the Oaks just to name a few.

In 2012, WVUE started broadcasting Bounce TV on its digital 8.2 signal. The Bounce TV New Orleans is one of the highest rated affiliates in the country.
