Pat LaPlatney is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Raycom Media. He joined the company in 2007 for the second time. He was previously EVP at Raycom Sports, overseeing distribution, programming, the events group, and business development.
Pat spent the early part of his career with Blair Television as an Account Executive and Sales Manager in the Charlotte and Atlanta offices. He also worked for Metro Networks as Senior Vice President of Television and Digital Media where he built Metro’s news services division and developed the first commercial traffic website. Metro Networks was acquired by Westwood One, and he ultimately became Executive Vice President of Television and Digital Media for Westwood One, focused on the Television Division, Digital Media, and Public Sector Services.
Pat is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Accounting. He and his wife, Karen, have four sons: Jack, Dan, Sam and Chris, and reside in Montgomery, Alabama. He is on the Board of Raycom Media, the National Association of Broadcasters, and Vice-Chair of the NBC Affiliate Board.
Susana Schuler is Executive Vice President, Content & Operations for Raycom Media, overseeing News, Marketing, Digital Content, Programming and Research. Susana also has oversight of a handful of stations in the company’s portfolio.
Susana joined Raycom Media in February 2006 to manage the company’s news operations. She was previously Vice President and Corporate News Director for Nexstar Broadcasting Group. Her prior experience includes news management and content roles at local stations across the country.
The Radio Television Digital News Foundation honored Susana with the First Amendment Service Award in 2010 for her work championing First Amendment rights of journalists. In 2002, Broadcasting & Cable Magazine named her one of the Next Wave of Women in Communications.
Susana is a cum laude graduate of Texas Christian University with a BS degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Business. She serves on the ABC Board of Governors, as well as the Carole Kneeland Foundation. In the River Region she is a member of the Alabama Christian Academy President’s Council and volunteers for the American Cancer Society, Race for the Cure and the American Red Cross.
Susana, her husband, Ray Willingham, and younger daughter, Monica, live in Montgomery, Alabama. Their older daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren are proud to call one of the Raycom Markets home in North Texas.
Joe is Executive Vice President, Digital Media and Strategy. He oversees the digital group, and leads efforts to create new revenue streams through startups, investments and acquisitions.
Joe has a deep digital media background, including EVP/GM of Weather Channel Interactive, with overall responsibility for the web, mobile and interactive television platforms. In addition, he has been President of Vertical Acuity, a venture-backed content marketing platform that was sold to Outbrain, and SVP Ecommerce for CafePress Services.
Joe grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, and has a BA from Princeton and a JD/MBA from the University of Virginia.
Greg McCastle is Chief Revenue Officer for Raycom Media. He is responsible for all media sales efforts including digital, linear, and addressable advertising.
Greg was most recently the President of Dstillery, a data science/AI driven audience and insights solutions company, where he managed all aspects of sales, marketing, business development, ad operations, and customer success.
Prior to that, Greg was on the leadership team at Time Inc. as Managing Director, Global Head of Agency and Client Development, where he focused on the development of strategic enterprise of all Time Inc. brands, media platforms, products, and services.
In 2007, as President of AT&T AdWorks, Greg launched and drove tremendous growth for the U-Verse Local TV, mobile, and desktop media business. He later led Cablevision Media, Local Cable Sales as President, running a multi-platform local sales organization, over 500 employees strong, generating more than 600 million in advertising sales annually
Greg has also held posts as Executive Vice President of Ad Sales at FOX Sports Net, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for News Digital Media (21st Century Fox), President of Ad Sales and Marketing at The Weather Company, Executive Vice President of Ad Sales and Distribution Sales at Westwood One and Vice President of Ad Sales with Raycom Sports.
Greg is a graduate of Wake Forest University, and has served on the boards of the Interactive Advertising Bureau, Mobile Marketing Association, Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau, and New York Ad Club.
Billy McDowell is Vice President of Media Analytics. He joined Raycom Media in 2004 to oversee research and data related activities for the company. Previously he spent over 14 years with NBC in the Television Stations Division working in WTVJ – Miami, WNBC – New York, and for the last 7 years as Vice President, Research of the stations division. His responsibilities included research oversight for 14 NBC Owned and Operated stations, the 15 Telemundo Owned and Operated stations and the NBC National Sales Organization. His experience also includes sales, marketing and research roles at WTLV and WJKS in Jacksonville.
Billy is currently the Chair of the Council for Research Excellence (CRE) and has also served as Chairman of the Media Rating Council Board and spent 6 years on the Executive Board.. He is also on COLTAM (Committee on Local Television Audience Measurement) through the NAB and the Nielsen Policy Guidelines Committee, where he has previously served as Chairman and co-Chairman.
Billy received a BA from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama and a MS degree in Media Management from The Florida State University. He also completed extensive post-graduate work in marketing at Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale.
David Burke is Vice President, Chief Technology Officer. He joined Raycom Media as the Director of MIS in 1997 and was promoted to his current role in 2015.
David served as an officer in the United States Air Force, followed by IT-related positions in private industry. Prior to joining Raycom Media, he was Director of Communications and Client Support for KinderCare Learning Centers, Inc., the country’s largest childcare provider.
David graduated from The Citadel in 1983 with a degree in Mathematics and earned an M.B.A. from the University of West Florida in 1986.
Ken Reiner is Vice President, Programming. He joined Raycom Media in 2013 as Corporate Director of Programming and was promoted to his current role in 2014 to oversee original development, licensing rights, content strategy and scheduling for the station group. Located in Burbank, CA, he also supervises the Corporate Programming Team.
Ken was previously at Newport Television in Kansas City, MO for five years as Vice President of Programming, responsible for all aspects of content for the group. He also worked as the Director of Programming and as Regional Program Director at Tribune Broadcasting for eight years overseeing content development and programming acquisitions for WGN America Network, WGN-TV, and WXMI-TV FOX 17, based in Chicago, IL. The early part of his career was spent in Toledo, OH as Program Director and Director of Operations at WUPW-TV FOX 36.
Ken is a current NATPE member and has previously served on the FOX Program Executive Counsel Board and Nielsen New Technology Subcommittee. He is a graduate of the University of Toledo with a degree in Broadcast Communications/Journalism. He and his wife, Julie, have three children and reside in Los Angeles, California.
Ellenann B. Yelverton is Vice President, General Counsel. Ellenann joined Raycom Media in 2007 to oversee litigation. Her responsibilities grew to include First Amendment, news, marketing, sales, employment, regulations, contracts, and acquisitions for the Legal Department, leading to her promotion to General Counsel.
Ellenann is a proud graduate of Auburn University, The University of Alabama Law School, and Class 10 of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum. Prior to joining Raycom Media, Ellenann was in private practice with a focus on civil litigation. Ellenann is a longtime Montgomery resident, where she and her husband are raising their daughters.
Dianne Wilson is Vice President, Human Resources for Raycom Media. She joined the company in 2001 as Benefits Director and was later promoted to Human Resources and Benefits Director. Her department is responsible for recruiting, compensation, benefits, employee relations, union negotiation and human resources related training.
After a long tenure as Regional Human Resources Director with a California-based pharmaceutical distribution company, Dianne transitioned to the compensation and benefits area of HR. She began working at a large Alabama-based insurance company and has extensive experience in the rapidly-changing world involving health care, compensation and retirement plans.
Dianne started her career as a senior recruiter for a national security based engineering and manufacturing company and rapidly moved into the employee development and eventually Human Resources Director for the company.
Dianne holds a degree in Human Resources Management and an MBA in Finance, both from Auburn University. She is certified as Senior Level Professional in Human Resources. She serves on the Blue Cross and Blue Shield National Advisory Accounts Board.
Dianne and her husband Justin have three girls: Katie, Emily and Abby and reside in Pike Road, Alabama.
Brad Streit is a Group Vice President, Television, overseeing a portfolio of Raycom Media and American Spirit Media stations in Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Idaho, Alabama and Florida. He has served in this role since 2009.
In 1990, Brad accepted the position of President, Civic Communications, Texas and General Manager at KLTV in Tyler, Texas. He continued as GM of KLTV through two successive ownership changes. The General Manager commentaries he originated on KLTV were named “Best in Texas” by the Texas Associated of Press two years in a row.
Prior to leading KLTV, Brad was Station Manager at WBTI in Cincinnati, Ohio and WLBT in Jackson, Mississippi. While in Jackson, he was certified as an instructor for the Dale Carnegie Public Speaking and Human Relations course, which he taught for 10 years. Brad served 2 terms on the ABC affiliate board and is a former chairman of the Texas Association of Broadcasters. He has also served on the boards of public service organizations including the United Way of Smith County and the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce. He is former chairman of The Great Texas Balloon Race and PATH (People Attempting to Help).
Brad attended Stephen F. Austin State University, graduating in 1979 with a major in Radio/Television and a minor in Business.
Wayne Freedman is Vice President, Sales. He joined Raycom Media in 2010 with a primary mission to ensure that the Raycom sales organization is always focused on our customers’ success, as well as to leverage our stations’ collective experience and success to help grow revenue across all platforms.
Prior to joining Raycom, Wayne was with Gannett Broadcasting for 17 years, where he served as VP Business Development from 2001-2010. His Gannett career also included time as Local, National and General Sales Manager at WXIA-TV (NBC) in Atlanta.
From 1992-2001, Wayne was hired by one of WXIA’s largest clients – the national photo retail chain Wolf Camera – to serve as EVP/Chief Marketing Officer. He oversaw in-house retail ad operations – including media negotiation and creative execution for all media platforms – in more than 50 media markets.
Wayne began his career in 1977 as a member of the first-ever Sales Associate Training Program for Blair TV, and worked as an Account Executive and Sales Manager for Blair in Chicago, Minneapolis, and New York.
Wayne is a magna cum laude graduate of Northwestern University. He and his wife, Nancy, have three children. He currently serves on the Board of the Television Bureau of Advertising (TVB), is a 2002 graduate of Leadership Atlanta, and past commissioner of the East Marietta Basketball Association, as well as a number of other charitable and community activities.
Don Richards is a Group Vice President, Television, overseeing a portfolio of Raycom Media and American Spirit Media stations in Ohio, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
Don became a Regional Vice President for the company in 2009 and was then named Group Vice President in March of 2011.
Don started his broadcasting career in radio copywriting and sales before making the move to local television. His experience includes sales and station management in St. Petersburg, Denver and Oklahoma City. In 1988, Don relocated to Richmond, Virginia to be the VP, General Manager of Fox affiliate WRLH. In 1998, Don was hired as VP, General Manager of WWBT NBC 12, which was purchased by Raycom Media in 2008.
Don is still based in Richmond where he has served on a number of community boards and is a past President of the Virginia Association of Broadcasters.
Sandy Breland is a Group Vice President, Television. She oversees a portfolio of stations in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas and Iowa. She joined Raycom Media in July of 2008 as Vice President/General Manager of WAFB/WBXH in Baton Rouge. In 2013, she had the opportunity to return to her beloved hometown in as General Manager of WVUE-TV in New Orleans.
Sandy previously served two years as Executive News Director of KTVK-TV, an award-winning independent in Phoenix. Under her leadership, KTVK was honored with the national Service to America award. Prior to her time in Phoenix, Sandy served eleven years as Executive News Director of WWL-TV in New Orleans. Sandy was honored with a Peabody, Dupont, and National Murrow, for her planning and execution of WWL’s coverage during Hurricane Katrina. WWL was the only local broadcaster to remain on the air throughout the storm, providing residents with life-saving information. She has also been honored with RTNDF’s First Amendment Award and the Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Chi Award for public service.
Sandy holds a BA in Journalism from Loyola University-New Orleans. She has also attended continuing education sessions at Columbia University’s Sulzberger Leadership Program, Missouri University’s Management Program for Broadcast Professional, and the Poynter Institute. She serves on the LSU Manship Board of Visitors and is chairman of the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters. Sandy and her husband Dave have two children.
